If you are turned down for a loan, a job, or have other unfavorable actions taken against you because of information in the report you can apply for a free copy of your credit report. Make contact with the reporting agency with the negative information. To get a free report online, by mail or by phone (see Resources) you can take the help of the reporting agencies.. A bill approved in July 2010 by the financial regulation, requires the company that took adverse action and the reporting company to provide you a free FICO score.
You can request a copy of your adverse credit report and score from the lender or employer who refused you. Many agencies will give it to you.
